Greener pastures? 2,500 hopeful sheep cross Idaho highway BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Why did 2,500 sheep cross the road? Because the grass was greener on the other side.In Idaho, it’s not unusual to see ranchers moving a bleating herd of sheep up to higher elevation at this time of year. But the sight of 2,500 wooly beasts trotting across a highway earlier this week brought a crowd about 300 people. It was the largest turnout that Steve Stuebner, spokesperson for the Idaho Rangeland Resources Commission, has seen in 15 years. “It’s a novelty. Maybe they’ve never seen anything like that before, but it’s real typical in Idaho,” he told KTVB-TV. “When you’re out in rural parts of Idaho in the spring and summer, or fall, you could run into a cattle drive or a sheep drive.”Curious onlookers lined the road as the animals sheepishly entered the highway, guided by ranchers and steered by sheepdogs. They traveled up the road a little ways, the fluffy white herd obscuring the yellow-painted centerline amid a chorus of “baas” and the lead ewe’s janglin...

Receiver-rich Vikings make ideal fit for Jordan Addison EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Jordan Addison and the Minnesota Vikings hit it off during his pre-draft visit, which ended a vow from coach Kevin O’Connell that they would take him with the 23rd overall pick in the NFL draft if the USC wide receiver was still available.“Once Minnesota came up, I just kept checking my phone,” Addison said. But surely other teams made the same easy, empty promise?“Yeah, they said that, but they didn’t stick to their word, so I’m glad to be a Viking,” said Addison, who was the fourth consecutive wide receiver to come off the board Thursday. “This is where I’m supposed to be at. They believe in me, and I’m just glad to be here.”The Vikings began the second day of the draft without a second-round pick from the trade they made last November with Detroit to acquire Hockenson. They entered Friday with the 87th overall selection, in the third round. The synergy is strong between Addison and the Vikings, who have as rich of a lineage at wide receiv...

Judge out of Yankees lineup after tests on captain’s hip ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Yankees captain Aaron Judge was out of the lineup Friday while the team waiting results of testing on his right hip. Judge exited the series opener Thursday at Texas because of right hip discomfort. He struck out in his only two at-bats and was replaced in right field in the bottom of the fourth inning in is first game at the Rangers ballpark since hitting his AL season record 62nd homer there last October. “He just said he woke up, felt better today. So hopefully that’s an encouraging sign,” manager Aaron Boone during pregame Friday. “But again, he’s going to see the doctor here in a little bit, and we’ll have a better idea.”Boone said the testing was on Judge’s hip, and not his right hand.Judge had an awkward head-first slide when trying to steal a base in the second inning Wednesday at Minnesota. His shoulders lurched forward ahead of his arms, and his right hand was jammed into the dirt underneath the weight of his body. He jogged without stop...

Colorado's free public transit program just expanded DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado's free transit program just got a boost.Gov. Jared Polis signed a bill into law on Friday that expands the grant program, designed to offer free public transit rides during peak ozone season. The new law allows transit agencies to roll over the money and use it for rider outreach. It also gives transit agencies more flexibility on when to use the money, as Colorado regions experience ozone season differently. Apartment values rise higher than homes in Denver, Boulder "Our bill expands this successful free transit program to save Coloradans money on fares and further reduce the amount of harmful ground-level ozone pollution released," Rep. Jennifer Bacon, D-Denver, said in a statement when the bill she sponsored passed the House.
